• Each farmer logs in periodically to read messages from the factory.
• The mobile phone of each farmer is alerted by the factory when necessary. This will be by means of inserting a calendar alert into the farmers' mobile phone.
• Each farmer can acknowledge messages, update crop sizes: thus updating the firm's ERP.

Question: Farmers might not be interested in going beyond a login page, since they are minimally literate, and not tech savvy

Answer: We have simplified the activities that are required to be made to manage information. That means by a single click on the bookmarks, the farmer will be able to login into his account. Generally, every slice of information is no more than four clicks away.

• Question: Will farmers find eDeskOnline simple enough ?

Answer: As far as farmers are concerned all their concerns of logging in vanish as soon as the auto-login url's sent to them via sms is received by them. Our auto-login url concept simplifies an ERP for the ordinary farmer.

• Question: What are the hardware requirements from the company's side ?

Answer: No fresh hardware is required. eDeskOnline's solution will work from the company's website. All farmers will need either a GSM based GPRS enabled or a CDMA based WAP enabled mobile phone, along with the WAP/GPRS service. In case of Reliance, R-World access along with xHTML browser enabled phone is sufficient.

• Question: What are the hardware requirements from the company's side;

in terms of servers, etc..

• Question: What is the mobile phone's minimum configuration ?

• Question: Will a tie-up with Reliance Infocom (non-GPRS) continue to work ?

( given that a Nokia CDMA 3125 phone is provided to each agent)

Answer: Yes, the deal can continue: eDeskOnline's solution will be able to integrate with Reliance InfoCom. The solution can work upon the Nokia CDMA 3125 phone.

• Question: Could a pre-installable mobile-application ( app )

be designed?

Answer: Yes, a pre-installable mobile-application ( app ) can be designed by eDeskOnline. More so, the look and feel can be customised to your requirement.

• Question: Farmers would prefer an interface in their own local / vernacular language. Could that option be built in ?

Answer: Yes, local language displays are possible.

• Question: What if in the concerned area, Reliance does not provide GPRS facility?

Answer: The eDeskOnline is NOT dependent on the Reliance GPRS facility. It can work on any telephone operator's GPRS connectivity. Reliance CDMA phones do NOT require GPRS facility. Reliance R-World is available everywhere, where reliance service is available.

• Question: Can the GPRS cost be reduced since SMS which is currently being used is cheaper.

Answer: With GPRS costs at 1 Paise per KB, this facility is already cheaper than SMS. GPRS cost is also very low. Reliance offers at 10 paise per 10kB. Since the amount of data transfer is very less in a mobile scenario, overall cost will be lower than SMS. And this cost is only going to fall in the future.

• Question: They would like to setup a testing model of the same,

and implement it on a small scale in a few states to check its feasibility. What would be the cost for this model. Would a free demo model be provided ?

Answer: Yes it is possible to have a free demo trial run. Please let us have more information on the sort of testing model that you are looking for. We can provide free accounts with a one-time customisation cost. For a basic model we are willing to set it up for you for free. This test model may be defined as two information elements being visible to your farmers / collection agents 24x7 for a period of one month.

• Question: We are getting a new ERP. Can we integrate the ERP to automatically communicate with our farmers using eDeskOnline.

Answer: Yes, having your own ERP makes it easier to create a relationship with your constituents. eDeskOnline is able to allow the farmer to view ( say ) his ledger account. He can also transfer funds to fertilizer suppliers. Using our API, integration is possible with any ERP. We will provide our API specifications to the ERP guys. The ERP guys just need to push the data to our url. If they require any customization over here, then we will be charging otherwise our service is free of cost.
