Keep your life organized: with eDeskOnline's personal contact management
eDeskOnline lets you start building your contact list right away. You can manage your contact list, keep a task list of things you have to do, and have reminders about upcoming events.
- Manage Contacts: Keep detailed records on everyone you know - phone number, address, email, web site, birthdates, anniversaries, children, notes, and more. Using the Groups field, you can group your contacts into your own customized categories: family, neighbor, school, co-worker, etc. If an email or web site has been entered for a contact, with just one click you can send an email or visit their site.
- Plan Parties : eDeskOnline is the perfect tool to help you plan your parties. Simply create a group from your existing contacts.
- Tasks Reminders : Tasks reminders help you create and view your to To Do lists. Tasks can be assigned a Subject which is used to group, or categorize, your tasks. It can be set to go out as an email.
- Holiday Cards : Manage any bulk mailings/cards you send out each year. You can keep track of who you sent cards to last year and who sent you a card. You use the Printing / Envelopes screen to output the labels.
- Printing: Print phone lists, envelopes, and a variety of reports: contacts reports, party reports, task lists, etc.
- Your contacts stay online: view / edit your contacts ACROSS platforms, i.e. both on the computer and the mobile phone.
- Keeping the edeskonline site as your master: you can copy addresses to your mobile phone. So if you get a new phone, copying your address book can happen in a flash.
- Print mailing labels using a neat feature.
- Associate contacts to your projects.
- Alerts. As an administrator, I get an emailed alert the moment my staff edits or adds a contact.
- One step copying of contacts from mobile phones to one's edeskonline account.
- Maintain groups for sending interest-specific newsletters. A client had a list of 20 000 contacts. Now there was a wedding in the family. He wished to invite 1500 out of the universe of contacts. He created a group called invitees, then individually went to each contact form and ticked on group = invitees. Then a mailing label print was taken out of the 1500 invitees. This way no fresh data need to be inputted. During his next event; he will download these 1500 invitees again. In the meantime, his addresses will continue being maintained in the universe of addresses.
- Search contacts on different criteria: e.g. by name, e-mail ID, notes, etc. More focussed search is possible on multiple criteria: e.g. by inserting search strings in multiple fields. All one needs to do is to activate the page by clicking anywhere on the page. Then Press the S key. This opens the search box. The New Search Box will look same like in the Image Below. This will be helpful in case your Address-book is large and you want to search a specific name. The Search option will allow you to do so.
How tos
Import your Desktop Address-Book to eDeskOnline
- Create a Comma Separated Value file
- From your existing data, using Outlook or Outlook Express, create a Comma Seperated Value file or CSV File, by Exporting the data into the sepcified file. Click here to refer to a guide: Comma-separated_values
- Open your CSV file and check to ensure that all contents of your address book have indeed been imported.
- Login to your edesk account
- Using you edesk ID and Username sign into your account.
- Wait till you are able to see the webtop.
- Import to "Address Book"
- Click on the icon Addressbook
- Click on the option New Group to create a new group and name it.
- Then select the group which is created newly.
- Click on the Import option which is shown on the top right side of the window.
- Then click on browse
- Select the CSV file on your local computer which contains all the data.
- Click on the Open button and click on the Import Button.
- Your data is now successfully stored in your edesk address book and will show up in the rows below.
How to delete unwanted addresses
- Login into eDeskOnline
- Click on the Address book icon on the webtop.
- Select the particular Folder which you want to delete.
- On the top of the contact you will find a link called Empty Group
- Click on that link to delete the unwanted data.
Back up the Address Book
To download Address Book in Excel Format ...
- First login to your edeskonline account.
- Then click the Address Book Icon on your WebTop.
- Then click on the Folder which is to be downloaded.
- At the top of the Address Book page, there would be a link XLS Click on that
- Click on Save, and you're done.
Access your eDeskOnline Address book
From your computer with an internet connection
- Opening the address book
- Sign in to your eDeskOnline account
- The blue webtop opens
- click on the Address Book icon to access your address book.
- Send your contacts from your eDeskOnline Address-book as a business card to someone else's mobile-phone, i.e. your secretary may wish to send you the information related to a business contact. Simple steps ..
- View a particular contact: click upon the link Send VCard
- A compose dialog box will appear: fill in the name of the recepient: then click send
- At the recepient's end, his mobile will receive an SMS containing this card.
- The recepient simply selects Save as a business card: his cell-phone is now up-dated
From your desk-top even when you do not have an internet connection
View your eDeskOnline Address book when you are not online. You need not have an internet connection for immediate viewing of your eDeskOnline Address book. Access your Address Book right on the desktop of your local computer. All that is needed is ..
- One-time download of a small application. This will need to be installed on your computer.
- Download the address book using this application.
- View the addresses listed on your eDeskOnline Address book.
- The application will also update itself for any changes which you make to your online Address book.
From your Mobile-phone
- Making phone-calls. Make your phone-number section of your cell-phone redundant. The eDeskOnline address-book is now your one and only address-book. You go to a seminar, and exchange business-cards with a potential client. Your secretary enters this information into eDeskonline: the client's contact details are now online.
- Take your internet-ready mobile hand-set.
- Select Applications / Opera Mini browser
- Login to your eDeskOnline Account by selecting url www.eDeskOnline.mobi
- Several icons will appear: select Address Book
- A search-box will appear: enter the search-string there: e.g. kumar
- A results page will appear: choose one from the results
- Take the cursor over the phone number: hit the call button of the mobile-phone
- The call will now take place.

- On your mobile phone, select menu -->> applications -->> Operamini browser.
- Login to your eDeskOnline Account by selecting url www.eDeskOnline.mobi ( for a demo click here )
- Several icons will appear: select Address Book
- A search-box will appear: enter the search-string there: e.g. kumar
- A results page will appear: choose one from the results
- Next to the contact number you will see a send SMS link: click it.
- Next to the contact number you will see a Send as SMS link: click it.
- A compose box as per the image below will appear. Use it to SMS the information.
